A Vacation to Remember

I am doing yet another one of Mama Kat's famous writers workshops.
I am choosing prompt number 1, A Vacation to remember...
Our memorable family vaca takes place back in 2009. It was our trip to that magical place known as, Disney World.
Disney World has quite a reputation to live up to, it has to "Make the dream come true" for the hundreds of thousands that venture there each year.

While our trip certainly had its magical aspects, I think our most relentless companion lacked a whimsical name.....It was called RAIN.

Let me be completely honest. When I say rain, that may be slightly understated, for this rain was not remotely modest. It could also be called downpour, monsoon, or Edward. And it lingered all 7 days we were there.

But we pressed...oh did we press on. Rain or shine (yeah, shine? that never happened.) We were there to "Make the dream come true" and dammit, we were going to get our full experience. It was Isabelle's first time to Disney World, we were embracing it! And you know what? While Jack and I will never forget all that rain, Isabelle has yet to ever mention it when sharing in her memorable moments. She truly only remembers the magic. The Roller Coaster rides, visiting Minnie's house, sharing a kiss with that famous wooden boy, singing with Cinderella, hanging out in her castle, if it happened, she remembers it.

What Jack and I remember may be slightly different....

Going to store after store to try and find a raincoat. ANY raincoat! Nada. Didn't exist.
Fighting with Isabelle to put on a poncho. Nada. It cramped her fashion.
Buying a bike hitch to in fact NOT use with a bike, but rather, to place her hynus in it to keep her dry while we toted (pulled, dragged, we were regular mules) her around the park.
Wanting to break out the camera to document precious moments, but just deciding to make a mental memory and move on, in fear that the rain may destroy our camera.
Ducking under random awnings to avoid melting in the magical kingdom.
Looking like we just got out of the shower...all day, everyday.
Did I mention it rained?
Packing lots of sunscreen...and never having to use it.
leaving just as pale as we came in looking and with colds.
Listening to the locals chat up how bizarre the weather was for that time of year, hearing things like "We never get this much rain" and "So sad the week you are here and the weather is so bad"
Finally waking up to a gorgeous sunny day, the first one since our drive down...only to pack up the car and head home.
looking at Jack and saying "I don't think it can honestly rain harder than this."
Jack looking at me in reply one minute later and say "You were saying?"
Lastly
Seeing Isabelle's face light up with pure delight with every corner we turned.
In all truthfulness, we can't wait to do it again, this time with Isabelle and little Claire.

Rain or Rain, it was a delightful, albeit, wet, week of fun with our little Isabelle.

Yes, Disney is a magical place, even in the rain...er..Edward.

Drenched, seeking shelter in a souvenir shop.
The famous bike hitch to PULL Isabelle in a keep her dry.

This was the look...everyday all day.

The most ponchos ever purchased.
